In Whale Beards erzählt die portugiesische Filmemacherin Mariana Bartolo von Mythen und Erinnerungen aus einem kleinen Dorf an der Atlantikküste. In alten Familienerzählungen taucht immer wieder ein Motiv auf: Die geheimnisvolle Gabe, Wasser auf trockenem Land zu finden. Auf analogem Filmmaterial gedreht, spürt Whale Beards einer alten und fast verlorenen Tradition nach.
In Whale Beards, Portuguese filmmaker Mariana Bartolo tells of myths and memories from a small village on the Atlantic coast. In old family stories, one motif appears again and again: The mysterious gift of finding water on dry land. Shot on analogue film stock, Whale Beards traces an old and almost lost tradition.
